Sensex zooms past 10,500, up 140pts

The Sensex has zoomed past the 10,500-mark. The index now stands at the day's high of 10,510 - up 140 points from the previous close.

ACC has surged 5.5% to Rs 662. Satyam has flared up nearly 5% to Rs 807. BHEL has soared 4.5% to Rs 2,118, and Maruti has jumped over 4% to Rs 857.

Bajaj Auto has zoomed 3.8% to Rs 2,700. Grasim, Bharti and Tata Motors have gained over 3% each at Rs 1,803, Rs 373 and Rs 839, respectively.

Hindalco, Wipro, Tata Power, TCS, Larsen & Toubro, Gujarat Ambuja, Tata Steel and HLL are the other smart gainers.

ONGC has shed nearly 2% to Rs 1,115. Reliance Energy has dropped 1.5% to Rs 610.

Out of 2,486 stocks traded so far, 1,294 have advanced, 1,117 have declined and 75 are unchanged.
