Sensex zooms past 12K, up 96pts

The Sensex opened with a gap of 30 points at 11,969. The index soon zoomed past the 12,000-mark and is now up 96 points at 12,034.

BHEL has rallied 2.5% to Rs 2,425.

Hindalco, Tata Power, Reliance and ITC are the other major gainers among the Sensex stocks.
