Sensex zooms past 7,700-mark, up 116 pts

While the overall market-mood remains buoyant, a steep upsurge in tech, select banking and other heavyweights propeled the Sensex above the 7,700-mark to a high of 7,712.The index is now up 116 points at 7,711.

TCS has surged 1.91% (Rs 24) to Rs 1,309. While Satyam has shot up 4.19% (Rs 21) to Rs 518, Infosys has moved up 1.75% (Rs 39) to Rs 2,303. Wipro is up 1.35% (Rs 10) at Rs 726.

SBI has soared 2.78% (Rs 22) to Rs 798, and ICICI Bank is up 1.92% (Rs 9) at Rs 492.

Bharti has perked up 4.17% (Rs 12) to Rs 303. While Tata Power has notched up 2.44% gains (Rs 10) to Rs 422, Tisco has added 2.28% (Rs 9) to Rs 397.

ITC has flared up 1.41% (Rs 24) to Rs 1,726, while Reliance is trading with steady gains at Rs 717 - up Rs 10 or 1.40%.

Grasim has logged 2.41% gains (Rs 30) to Rs 1,289 while other cement counters are exhibiting mixed trends.
