Silver down 0.5% on weak global trend

Metal prices for delivery in September lost 0.4%

Tracking a weak global trend, silver futures prices today fell 0.48% to Rs 42,170 per kg as speculators reduced positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in July drifted by Rs 204, or 0.48%, to Rs 42,170 per kg in business turnover of 627 lots.

Similarly, the white metal prices for delivery in September lost Rs 188, or 0.44%, at Rs 42,439 per kg in 73 lots.

Market analysts said a weak trend in the precious metals overseas, before the US Federal Reserve concludes a two-day policy meeting today, mainly pulled down silver prices at futures trade.
 
Meanwhile, silver slipped 0.20% to USD 19.71 an ounce in Singapore today.
