Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid weak global trend and sluggish domestic demand, silver prices moved down by 1.74% to Rs 44,880 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May fell by Rs 793, or 1.74%, to Rs 44,880 per kg in business turnover of 13,052 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in July traded lower by Rs 704, or 1.51%, to Rs 45,873 per kg in 604 lots.

Market Analysts attributed the fall in silver futures to a weak global trend after the US Federal Reserve hinted that the central bank could raise interest rates sooner than expected, reducing demand for the safe haven.

Meanwhile, silver fell by 1.55% to USD 20.29 an ounce in London.
