Silver futures decline on reduced offtake

Silver prices slid by Rs 45 to Rs 28,951 per kg in futures market today on reduced offtake following weakening price trend in overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for far-month March fell by Rs 45 or 0.16 per cent to Rs 28,951 per kg with an open interest of 159 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in September month contract declined by Rs 38 or 0.13 per cent to Rs 28,755 per kg in 15,526 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in silver prices in futures trade to weakening trend in global markets. Silver traded lower by 0.28 per cent to 17.81 dollar an ounce in Asian region.
