Silver futures down 0.1% on profit booking

Metal for delivery in March contracts declined by 0.07%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Silver prices fell 0.19% to Rs 49,790 per kg in futures trade today after speculators locked in gains even as metal surged in the overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December traded lower by Rs 94, or 0.19%, to Rs 49,790 per kg in business turnover of 335 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March contracts declined by Rs 38, or 0.07%, to Rs 51,155 per kg in business volume of 2 lots.

In the international market, silver traded 0.3% lower at $22.76 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said the fall in silver prices at futures trade was mostly attributed to profit-booking by participants but metal's gain overseas on speculation that the Federal Reserve may delay a reduction in stimulus until next year after weak US jobs report, capped the losses.
