Silver futures fall by 0.2% on weak global cues

Amid a weakening trend overseas, silver prices fell Rs 101 to Rs 42,013 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut their holdings.

Silver for delivery in far-month September was trading lower by Rs 101 or 0.24% at Rs 42,013 per kg in a business turnover of 41 lots in futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange.

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in July lost Rs 87 or 0.21% at Rs 41,275 per kg with a business turnover of 809 lots.

In the international market, silver traded 0.94% lower at $17.31 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said a weak trend in precious metals in global markets, mainly weighed on silver prices at futures trade here.
