Silver futures gain 0.75% on better global trend

Silver prices rose by Rs 222 or 0.75 per cent to Rs 29,720 per kg in futures market today on increased buying by traders in tandem with a firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for July-month contract rose by Rs 222, or 0.75 per cent to Rs 29,720 per kg, with an open interest of 16,042 lots.

The metal for delivery in September contract traded higher by the same margin at Rs 29,860 per kg in a business volume of 1,158 lots.

While, December contract gained Rs 118, or 0.40 per cent to Rs 29,900 per kg, with a business turnover of 93 lots.

Market analysts said, increased buying by traders and reports of a firming global trend mainly pushed up silver prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver shot up by 4.49 per cent to $19.33 an ounce in New York last evening.
