Silver futures rise on global cues

March contract rises 0.1%

Silver in futures trade rose by Rs 59 to Rs 59,666 per kg today as speculators created fresh positions, taking  positive cues from overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March month rose by Rs 59, or 0.10%, to Rs 59,666 per kg in business turnover of 11,945 lots.

The May contract traded higher by Rs 40, or 0.07%, to Rs 61,045 per kg in 634 lots.

Market analysts said speculators created fresh positions in tandem with a firm global trend mainly pushed up silver futures.

Meanwhile, silver climbed 0.4% to 31.15 dollar an ounce in London.
