Silver futures slide 0.2% on weak global trend

Speculators trim positions as metal loses over 2% in New York

Silver prices declined 0.20 per cent to Rs 44,391 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions on weak global trend.
    
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March lost Rs 89, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 44,391 per kg in business turnover of 2,026 lots.
    
May silver shed Rs 51, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 45,405 per kg in 77 lots.
    
Analysts said speculators trimmed positions on weak global trend which kept pressure on silver prices at futures trade.
    
Meanwhile, silver traded lower by 2.24 per cent to $19.87 an ounce in New York last night.
