Taking weak cues from the global market, silver futures prices today fell 0.6% to Rs 48,870 a kg as speculators trimmed positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in December were down by Rs 301, or 0.61%, to Rs 48,870 a kg in business turnover of 897 lots.

Similarly, silver prices for delivery in the far-month March lost Rs 291, or 0.58%, at Rs 50,000 a kg in three lots.

Market analysts said a weak trend in the precious metals abroad mainly put pressure on silver prices at futures trade here.

Globally, silver for spot delivery shed 0.32% to $21.73 an ounce in Singapore today.
