Silver futures up 0.2% on global cues

Rise in spot demand supports uptrend

Buoyed by a higher global trend, silver prices shot up by Rs 137 to Rs 62,915 per kg in futures trading today after speculators created fresh positions on the back of rise in spot market demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March shot up by Rs 137, or 0.22%, to Rs 62,915 per kg, with a business turnover of 226 lots.

December silver moved up by Rs 118, or 0.19%, to Rs 61,038 per kg, with a business turnover of 5,364 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by speculators tracking a firm trend at spot market on pick up in demand amid a firm global trend pushed up silver prices at futures market.

Meanwhile, silver advanced 0.5% to $32.76 an ounce in Singapore.
