Silver prices rose Rs 73 or 0.25 per cent to Rs 29,354 per kg in futures trade today, as traders enlarged their positions on the back of a firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for September contract rose Rs 73, or 0.25 per cent to Rs 29,354 per kg, with an open interest of 1,836 lots.
The metal for delivery in July contract also traded higher by Rs 70, or 0.24 per cent to Rs 29,251 per kg, with a business volume of 11,691 lots.
Marketmen said fresh buying by traders in tandem with a firming global trend mainly led to a rise in silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver increased 0.4 per cent to $18.32 an ounce in the Asian region.
