Silver futures up on increased offtake

Silver prices moved up by Rs 170 or 0.58 per cent to Rs 29,555 per kg in futures market today on emergence of buying by speculators amid firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for September contract rose by Rs 170, or 0.58 per cent to Rs 29,555 per kg, with an open interest of 1,324 lots.

The metal for delivery in July contract also gained Rs 148, or 0.51 per cent to Rs 29,440 per kg, with a trading volume of 13,761 lots.

The fresh rise in silver prices was due to firming trend in overseas market, increased offtake by traders pushed up the silver prices at futures trade.

 

Meanwhile, silver rose by 1.03 per cent to $18.56 an ounce in New York last evening.
