Silver prices fell by Rs 131 or 0.46 per cent to Rs 28,451 per kg in futures trade today on slack demand in spot markets amid weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for far-month September contract fell by Rs 131, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 28,451 per kg, with an open interest of 1,483 lots.

The metal for delivery in July also dipped by Rs 96, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 28,345 per kg, with an open interest of 15,720 lots.

Marketmen said reduced offtake due to fall in demand at spot markets and reports of weakening trend in overseas markets helped silver prices to trade lower at futures trade.
