Silver moves up in futures trade on global cues

Silver prices jumped by Rs 190 to Rs 28,940 per kg in futures market today as speculators indulged in enlarging their positions supported by a firm trend in global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for December month shot up by Rs 190, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 28,940 per kg with an open interest of 1,265 lots.

The metal for delivery in September month also jumped up by Rs 185, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 28,821 per kg in 20,091 lots.

Marketmen said speculators enlarging their positions on hopes of pick up in demand in the spot market in festive season amid firming global trend mainly attributed to the rise in silver prices.

 

Meanwhile, silver traded higher by one per cent to $18.15 an ounce in the Asian region.
