Silver rises 1% in futures trade

Traders enlarge positions on higher demand in post market, despite weak global trend

Silver prices rose by Rs 604 to Rs 63,875 per kg in futures market today on increased offtake by traders mostly in tandem with a firming trend in spot markets despite a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December month traded higher by Rs 604, or 0.95 per cent to Rs 63,875 per kg in business turnover of 8,881 lots.

March silver gained Rs 574, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 65,881 per kg in 1,299 lots.

Market analysts said increased offtake by traders on hopes a rise in demand in spot markets for the ongoing marriage season, mainly attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade.

 

Meanwhile, silver fell by 0.5 per cent to $33.90 an ounce in Singapore.
