Silver up on higher global trend

Fresh buying also influenced prices

Silver prices shot up by Rs 164 to Rs 53,895 per kg in futures trading today as speculators indulged in fresh buying.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September shot up by Rs 164, or 0.31%, to Rs 53,895 per kg in business turnover of 2,782 lots.

The July contract moved up by Rs 144, or 0.27%, to Rs 52,681 per kg in 19 lots.

Market analysts attributed to the rise in silver futures to a firm global trend.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.5% to $28.27 an ounce in Singapore.
