Silver up on strong spot demand

Benchmark contract up nearly 0.50%

Supported by a rise in demand in the spot market, silver prices rose by Rs 252 to Rs 54,091 per kg in futures trade today.

At the MCX, silver for delivery in July rose by Rs 252, or 0.47%, to Rs 54,091 per kg in a business turnover of 6,463 lots.

The September contract traded higher by Rs 251, or 0.45%, to Rs 55,515 per kg in 221 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in silver futures prices to pick-up in spot demand.
