Six more swine flu cases in India; total touches 50

Swine flu cases in the country today touched 50 with six more persons, including a two-year-old boy and 66-year-old woman, testing positive for the disease.

Three fresh cases were reported from Delhi while two were from Bangalore and one from Mumbai. Out of the new cases, one case in Delhi was of human to human transmission.

"Six new cases have been reported from Delhi (3), Bangalore (2) and Mumbai (1). Of the 50 cases, 16 have been discharged while the rest are all stable and remain admitted to health facilities," a Health Ministry official said.

Of the three cases reported in Delhi, the case of a 66-year-old woman is that of human to human transmission. The woman contracted the disease from her family member who was reported positive on June 17.

 

Another case in Delhi was that of a 9 year-old-boy who reached Delhi on June 11 from the US while the third is a 28-year-old man who travelled from Egypt on June 13.

The case of two-year-old boy testing positive was reported from Bangalore. The boy reached Bangalore from the US transiting through London on June 14 and reported to hospital three days later.

A 36-year-old man, who travelled from Frankfurt and reached Bangalore on June 14, also tested positive.

In Mumbai, a 36-year-old man, who came from New Jersey on June 15, tested positive.
