Small sugar drops on sluggish demand

Small sugar prices dropped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and retailers coupled with adequate stock positions.

Meanwhile, medium sugar variety showed a mixed pattern of trading owing alternate bouts of buying and selling.   

Small sugar quality (S-30) dipped by Rs 19/20 per quintal to Rs 2,782/2,841 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 2,801/2,861. 

Medium sugar quality (M-30) were quoted at Rs 2,851/2,911 per quintal against Rs 2,841/2,921 yesterday.

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets: 

Medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,851/2,911 (Rs 2,841/ 2,921) and Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,782/2,841 (Rs 2,801/2,861)
