After recovering from its lows in mid-noon trades, the market has firmed up further in current trades following extended buying support in select old and new economy stocks. The Sensex, which touched a high of 6,284, is now up 31 points at 6,275, while the Nifty has gained 14 points to 1,944. Reliance has logged 2.31% gains (Rs 12) to Rs 542. While ITC is trading firm with a gain of 1.74% (Rs 24) at Rs 1,395, HLL is up a notch at Rs 131. ONGC, however, is trading with a small loss of Rs 3 at Rs 852. SBI has moved up 1.22% (Rs 8) to Rs 628. ICICI Bank is still exhibiting weak trends at Rs 376 - down Rs 8 or 1.97%. Satyam has notched up 4.88% gains (Rs 18) to Rs 396. While Wipro has gained 1.69% (Rs 10) to Rs 605, Infosys is trading half a per cent lower (Rs 8) at Rs 1,940. Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja are trading up a per cent each at Rs 1,212 (up Rs 9) and Rs 429 (up Rs 5), respectively. L&T has gained 2% (Rs 19) to Rs 969. While Tata Power has added 1.65% (Rs 6) to Rs 360, BHEL has inched up by 1.13% (Rs 9) to Rs 783. Tisco is up 1.13% (Rs 4) at Rs 367. Hero Honda, however, is subdued with a loss of Rs 3 at Rs 512. Other auto majors are displaying a mixed trend. |
