Smart recovery... ONGC, HDFC, tech stocks lead

The NSE Nifty is down 32 points at 4,315.

ONGC has surged 2.8% to Rs 891. Wipro has gained 2.5% at Rs 486, and Satyam has added 2.3% to Rs 466.

HDFC has advanced 2% to Rs 2,229. Infosys has moved up 1.7% to Rs 1,859.

ITC has gained 1.5% at Rs 202, and HDFC Bank is up 1.3% at Rs 1,113.

Jaiprakash Associates has slumped 6% to Rs 157. Larsen & Toubro has plunged 4.5% to Rs 2,449, and Hindlaco has tumbled 4% to Rs 155.

Ranbaxy and Mahindra & Mahindra have slipped around 3.5% each to Rs 523 and Rs 555, respectively.

 

ACC and Reliance Infrastructure have dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 608 and Rs 935, respectively.

Maruti, BHEL and Reliance are down around 2.5% each at Rs 709, Rs 1,369 and Rs 2,047, respectively.

The market breadth is still extremely negative - out of 2,562 stocks traded so far, 2,140 have declined, 373 have advanced and 49 are unchanged.
