SpiceJet has surged nearly 10% to Rs 26.3 on early deals today on reports that its promoter, Kalanithi Maran, is planning to increase his stake to 43% by October.
Meanwhile, the low-cost airline had recently acquired the new fleet of Q400 aircraft from Bombardier as it expands its network to connect more Tier II and Tier III cities, including Bhopal, Indore, Mangalore and Tirupati. It will receive 30 more Q400 aircraft from Bombardier and is expected to launch its services to these new destinations.
The stock opened at Rs 24.65 and touched a high of Rs 26.40 in early trades. As many as 17,11,304 shares have been traded till 0930 hours.
