The Spices Board has started a training centre, in collaboration with the Confederation of India Industry (CII) and the US FDA, for food safety and supply chain management.
Inaugurating it here on Monday, board chairman A Jayathilak said the centre, the first-of-its-kind in India, would facilitate capacity building and develop product specific testing procedures in the sector of spices and botanical ingredients.
The first phase of the training commenced on Monday.
Delegates from various parts of the world will lead the deliberations in the phase 1 of the programme. Phase two for selected delegates will be held in the US for two weeks. In phase three, participants attending phase two would be involved in a series of workshop and training programmes in different regions of India.
The centre would strengthen the supply chain management for both domestic and international trade by providing technical support to organisations. This will be through training, information sharing and technical consultancy to organisations selected by the board.
