Spices Board To Aid Vanilla Growers

In a bid to popularise vanilla cultivation, Spices Board would be distributing subsidised vanilla planting materials to small and marginal growers in the next planting season through nurseries and Indian Cardamom Research Stations in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Spices Board director (development) Koshy John said any grower possessing not more than four hectares of land intending to cultivate vanilla could avail of a maximum of 300 rooted cuttings or 300 hardened tissue cultured plantlets from the supply centres.

The price per rooted cutting was Rs 12.50 and per hardened tissue cultured plantlet it was Rs 6.

Those aiming to buy the material under the scheme would have to submit applications in the prescribed form in the board
