State-owned trading firm STC has invited bids for import of 2,000 tonnes of pulses for sale in domestic market.

The last date for submitting the bids is May 18 and a decision on awarding the contract will be taken on the same day, the company said on its website.

The company has invited offers for the purchase of a total of 2,000 tonnes of urad from Myanmar and desi chick peas from Australia.

While the consignment of urad is to be delivered at Chennai and Mumbai ports, desi chick peas are to be delivered at the Mumbai port, the company said.

The consignment is to be delivered by May-June 2011, it added.

STC, MMTC and other state-run trading agencies like PEC import different varieties of pulses on behalf of the government to augment the domestic supply.
