The State Trading Corporation (STC) has invited bids to import 75,000 tonnes of Canadian yellow peas to be delivered between July and September.

Bids will close on July 6 and the decision on the tender will be taken by July 13, the public sector trading firm said on its website.

STC specified that the imported Canadian yellow peas should be grown in the 2009 and 2010 crop year. The shipment should reach Mumbai and Kolkata ports between July and September.

STC and other public trading firms import various varieties of pulses on behalf of the government as the country's total domestic production is lower at 13-14 million tonnes against the demand of 17-18 million tonnes.
