Sugar prices continued to slide for the fourth straight day, lost upto Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today, on sustained selling by stockists against adequate supply from mills.

Marketmen said increased supplies from mills against reduced offtake helped sugar prices to settle in negative zone.

Reduced offtake from soft drinks and ice-cream makers due to current rains also influenced the trading sentiment, they said.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices remained weak and lost another Rs 25 each to Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 2,790- 2,890 per quintal.

Similarly, mill delivery medium and second grade prices also traded lower by the same margin to Rs 2,650-2,750 and Rs 2,640-2,740 per quintal.
