Sugar drops on sluggish demand, higher supply

Sugar prices dropped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and bulk consumers amid adequate stock availability.

Medium sugar (M-30) declined by Rs 15 per quintal to Rs 2,731-2,851 from last weekend's closing level of Rs 2,746-2,851.

Small sugar (S-30) also moved down by Rs 9-12 per quintal to Rs 2,691-2,732 as against Rs 2,703-2,741 previously. 

The following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets: 

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,731-2,851 (Rs 2,746-2,851)
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,691-2,732 (Rs 2,703-2,741)
