Sugar falls on fresh selling

Sugar prices declined by Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today on stockists selling amid increased supply.

Marketmen said millers clearing pending quota of the current month, mainly created adequate stocks position in the local market here.

They said sluggish demand among retailers and bulk consumers such as ice cream and soft drink makers further fueled the downtrend.

Sugar spot medium and second grade prices traded lower from Rs 2,875-2,975 and Rs 2,8-2,965 to settle at Rs 2,850-2,975 and Rs 2,840-2,965 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery medium and second grade price also eased to finish at Rs 2,625-2,740 and Rs 2,615-2,730 per quintal.

 

Among millgate section, sugar thanabhavan and budhana shed Rs 10 each to Rs 2,640 and Rs 2,635 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 2,875-2,975 and S-30 2,865-2,965
Mill delivery M-30 2,650-2,750 and S-30 2,640-2,740

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,690, Asmoli 2,700, Mawana 2,650, Titabi 2,640,Thanabhavan 2,640, Budhana 2,635 and Dorala 2,650.
