Sugar prices declined by Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today on emergence of stockists selling followed by sluggish demand.

Marketmen said emergence of stocks selling, due to fall in demand from bulk consumers and retailers led to a fall in sugar prices.

Reduced offtake from soft drinks and ice cream makers due to the ongoing rainy season also influenced the trading sentiment, they said.

Sugar mill delivery medium and second grade prices eased to Rs 2,650-2,725 and Rs 2,640-2,715 against last close of Rs 2,650-2,750 and Rs 2,640-2,740 per quintal.

However, sugar ready medium and second grade prices held steady at Rs 2,800-2,900 and Rs 2,790-2,890 per quintal.
