Sugar prices down on higher free sale sugar quota

The wholesale sugar prices declined by Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying for the ongoing festival season against adequate stocks position.

Traders said the new free-sale quota announced created adequate stocks position in the market.  

They said the government issued free-sale sugar quota of 19.25 lakh tonne including levy sugar quota of 2.22 lakh tonne for the month of August, which is more than the previous month's quota.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices dropped by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,950-3,100 and Rs 2,925-3,060 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery medium and second grade prices also slipped by Rs 25 each to Rs 2,890-2,975 and Rs 2,790-2,950 per quintal, respectively.

 

Following were today's quotation per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 2,950-3,100 and S-30 2,925-3,060
Mill delivery M-30 2,800-2,975 and S-30 2,790-2,950

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,970, Asmoli 2,960, Mawana 2,900, Titabi 2,890, Thanabhavan 2,800, Budhana 2790 and Dorala 2,880
