Sugar prices ease on poor offtake

Sugar millgate prices softened by Rs 20 per quintal in the national capital today following slackness in demand.

Marketmen said fall in demand from stockist and bulk consumers such as softdrink and ice-cream makers mainly pulled down prices. Lower outside demand also influenced trading sentiments to some extent, they added.

In millgate section, sugar Kinnoni and Asmoli dipped by Rs 20 each to Rs 2,810 and Rs.2,800 per quintal, respectively.

Mawana slipped by Rs 15 to Rs 2,760 per quintal, while Titabi fell by Rs 10 at Rs 2,760 per quintal.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 2,825-2,875 and S-30 2,815-2,865
Mill delivery M-30 2,675-2,775 and S-30 2,665-2,765

 

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,810, Asmoli 2,800, Mawana 2,760, Titabi 2,760, Thanabhavan 2,740, Budhana 2,730 and Dorala 2,750
