Sugar prices fall on poor offtake

Sugar prices declined by Rs 75 per quintal in the national capital today on ample supply against reduced offtake.

Marketmen said, increased arrivals and reduced offtake by retailers and stockist, pulled down the sugar prices.

Sugar mill delivery medium and second grade prices slipped from Rs 2,815-3,000 and Rs 2,800-2,975 to close at Rs 2,750-2,950 and Rs 2,725-2,925 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar spot medium and second grade price also quoted lower from Rs 3,025-3,185 and Rs 3,000-3,150 to settle at Rs 3,000-3,170 and Rs 2,990-3,125 per quintal, respectively.

Among millgate sectional sugar mawana and thanabhavan dipped to close at Rs 2,900 and Rs 2,870 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 3,000-3,170 and S-30 2,990-3,125
Mill delivery M-30 2,750-2,950 and S-30 2,725-2,925

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,940, Asmoli 2,920, Mawana 2,900, Titabi 2,985, Thanabhavan 2,870, Budhana 2860, and Dorala 2,890
