Sugar prices up on better offtake

Sugar prices improved by Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today following fresh buying amid restricted supply.

Market analysts said pick-up in demand from bulk consumers and retailers amid reduced arrivals, mainly pushed up sugar prices.

Sugar spot medium and second grade prices moved up from Rs 2,950-3,050 and Rs 2,925-3,025, to settle at Rs 2,950-3,100 and Rs 2,925-3,050 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery medium and second grade prices also went up from Rs 2,750-2,940 and Rs 2,725-2,915 to close at Rs 2,775-2,975 and Rs 2,750-2,950 per quintal, respectively.

Following were today's quotation in Rs per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 2,950-3,100 and S-30 2,925-3,050
Mill delivery M-30 2,775-2,975 and S-30 2,750-2,950

 

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,930, Asmoli 2,920, Mawana 2,850, Titabi 2,860, Thanabhavan 2,750, Budhana 2750 and Dorala 2,850
