Sugar prices up on fresh buying

Sugar prices strengthened by Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today, following pick up in demand from retailers for the festive season.

The government announced 14 lakh million tonnes of freesale sugar quota for November month last friday.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices rose from Rs 2,875-2,975 and Rs 2,865-2,965 to settle at Rs 2,900-3,000 and Rs 2,890-2,990 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery medium and second grade price also gained from Rs 2,650-2,750 and Rs 2,640-2,740 to finish at Rs 2,675-2,775 and Rs 2,665-2,765 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 2,900-3,000 and S-30 2,890-2,990
Mill delivery M-30 2,675-2,775 and S-30 2,665-2,765
Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,720, Asmoli 2,725, Mawana 2,690, Titabi 2,670, Thanabhavan 2,660, Budhana 2,665 and Dorala 2,680
