Sugar prices up on fresh buying

Sugar prices improved by Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today following fresh buying support.

Market analysts said pick-up in demand from retail customers due to the beginning of new month mainly pushed up sugar prices.

Sugar ready medium prices moved up from Rs 2,980-3,125 to Rs 3,000-3,150 per quintal while second grade traded higher at Rs 2,990-3,125 from Rs 2,970-3,100 per quintal.

Mill delivery medium and second grade prices also went up from Rs 2,775-2,925 and Rs 2,760-2,900 to settle at Rs 2,800-2,950 and Rs 2,775-2,925 per quintal, respectively.

Following were today's quotation in Rs per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 3,000-3,150 and S-30 2,990-3,125.

Mill delivery M-30 2,800-2,950 and S-30 2,775-2,925.

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,925, Asmoli 2,920, Mawana 2,900, Titabi 2,890, Thanabhavan 2,845, Budhana 2850 and Dorala 2,895.
