Sugar prices up on reduce supply, better offtake

Sugar prices improved by Rs 40 per quintal in the national capital today following pick-up in demand amid restricted supply from mills. 

Market analysts said reduced arrivals from mills due to adverse weather conditions following heavy rains against pick-up in demand mainly pushed up sugar prices. 

Sugar ready medium grade prices hardened to settle at Rs 2,975-3,150 from Rs 2,960-3,110 per quintal, its second grade price also moved up to end at Rs 2,960-3,100 per quintal.

Mill delivery medium moved up from Rs 2,800-2960 to Rs 2,925-3,000 per quintal and second grade price rose from Rs 2,790-2,935 to finish at Rs 28,10-2,975 per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 2,975-3,150 and S-30 2,960-3,110
Mill delivery M-30 2,825-3,000 and S-30 2,810-2,975

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 3,000, Asmoli 2,990, Mawana 2,920, Titabi 2,910, Thanabhavan 2,820, Budhana 2810 and Dorala 2,910
