Sugar remains firm on sustained buying

Sugar extended gains by adding Rs 35 per quintal in the national capital today on sustained buying by retailers and bulk consumers to meet the upcoming wedding season demand. 

Buying activity in sugar picked up, as stockists and retailers raised their stocks to meet the upcoming marriage season demand.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices remained in keen demand and added another Rs 35 each to Rs 3,000-3,160 and Rs 2,985-3,135 per quintal, respectively.

Similarly, the mill delivery medium and second grade price also traded higher by the similar margin to Rs 2,795-2,895 and Rs 2,775-2,875 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 3,000-3,160 and S-30 2,985-3,135
Mill delivery M-30 2,795-2,895 and S-30 2,775-2,875

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,870, Asmoli 2,860, Mawana 2,820, Titabi 2,810, Thanabhavan 2,785, Budhana 2775, and Dorala 2,820
