Sugar rises on increase in demand

Sugar prices rose at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to rising demand from stockists and bulk consumers along with good festive offtake.

Small sugar quality (S-30) went up by Rs 15 per quintal to Rs 2,786/2,851 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 2,771/2,836. 

Medium sugar quality (M-30) also gained Rs 5/10 per quintal to Rs 2,831/2,901, as against Rs 2,821/2,896 yesterday.  

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets:   

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,786/2,851 (Rs 2,771/ 2,836) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,831/2,901 (Rs 2,821/2,896)
