Sugar up 0.2% in trade

Market analysts attributed the rise in sugar futures to fresh positions created by speculators after a rise in demand in the spot market.

Sugar prices up by 0.29% to Rs 3,075 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions amid rising demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 9, or 0.29%, to Rs 3,075 per quintal with an open interest of 4,520 lots.

Similarly, sugar for delivery in the July contract edged up by the same margin to Rs 3,089 per quintal in 27,880 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in sugar futures to fresh positions created by speculators after a rise in demand in the spot market.
