Sugar weakens by 0.09%

Supply pressure in spot market influenced the price

Sugar prices fell by 0.09% to Rs 3,273 per quintal today.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the February contract declined by Rs 3, or 0.09%, to Rs 3,273 per quintal, with an open interest of 22,210 lots.

The January contract also shed Re 1, or 0.03% to Rs 3,237 per quintal, in an open interest of 19,550 lots.

Marketmen said sugar futures fell as participants offloaded their positions driven by subdued demand. Supply pressure in the spot markets also influenced the sugar prices.
