Suguna Poultry to export 'Sugie' to Japan

With the opening up of Japanese market to Indian chicken, the Coimbatore-based broiler meat major Suguna Poultry group is sitting pretty to tap the business potential there for its 'Sugie' brand processed chicken.
 
The Rs 825-crore Suguna Poultry group is already an exporter of processed chicken to the Gulf market through its 100 per cent export-oriented joint venture, Supreme Suguna Foods Company. At present, the group's export level is approximately 1,000 tonnes per month.
 
"We have made exports to the Middle East during the last year to the tune of 15,000 tonnes. Now, the Japanese government has opened its market for Indian chicken. We shall soon be making our exports to Japan, as per their requirement from the end of this month (September) onwards," said B Soundararajan, managing director, Suguna Poultry group, while responding to an email query from Business Standard.
 
The current production capacity of processed chicken is 30,000 birds per day of 10 hour production which will soon be doubled, according to Soundararajan.
 
Suguna group also has plans to offer value-added products such as marinated or ready-to-cook chicken and later on ready- to-eat chicken through its distributors.
