The Sensex ended the week with a tame 9.41 point gain at 6,183.23 while the broader Nifty shed 6.10 points for the week to end at 1,925.30. Trading was choppy for most part of the week amid conflicting signals coming from the largely upbeat quarterly results besides fears of a strengthening dollar and higher international oil prices.

ITC was the notable booster to the index, contributing 38 points last week. Far behind was HDFC which contributed 11.38 points.

On the other hand, pharma major Ranbaxy and Infosys weighed upon the Sensexc and were responsible for taking out 20 points and 5.7 points respectively from the index.
