Tata Motors is trading higher by 3% at Rs 220 after reporting 27% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth in its global sales to 114,920 vehicles in December 2011, driven by strong sales of passenger cars and luxury Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) brand.
Sales of luxury vehicles from the JLR stable stood at 30,981 units during December, 2011, up 45% in comparison to December, 2010, Tata Motors said in a statement. Total passenger vehicles sales grew 45% at 61,066 units on y-o-y basis.
According to a company statement, cumulative sales for the 2011-12 stood at 865,400, 12% higher when compared to the corresponding period last fiscal.
A combined 2.15 million shares have changed hands on the counter so far on the NSE and BSE.
