Tata Motors has slipped over 6% at Rs 272 after the company said its global sales remained flat in April at 87,377 units over the same period last year. India's largest automobile company had sold 87,114 units in April 2011.
“Global sales of all commercial vehicles - Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range - were 38,008 nos., in April 2012, lower by 8%. Global sales of all passenger vehicles were at 49,369 nos. in April 2012, higher by 7%,” Tata Motors said in a press release.
However, sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) were at 25,143 units during April, up 29% from the same month last year, it added.
A combined 250,000 shares have changed hands on the counter in opening deals on both the exchanges.
