Volumes in the derivatives segment dipped further on Friday with the turnover in the futures and options segment on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) touching Rs 7,782 crore and a total of 2.4 lakh contracts being traded.
 
The total outstanding open interest position in the market was at 26.63 crore shares. Index futures saw a turnover of Rs 2,085 crore with the outstanding open interest at 1.11 crore shares. Equity futures clocked a turnover of Rs 4,931 and the outstanding open interest position was at 19.40 crore shares.
 
In the futures segment, the most actively traded contracts were those of Tata Steel, Reliance, Satyam, TCS and State Bank of India (SBI) among others. The outstanding open interest position in Tata
 
Steel was of the order of 2.58 crore shares. SBI's open interest position was at 3.5 crore shares , while the open interest position in Arvind Mills was 96.84 lakh shares and in Maruti futures at 82.50 lakh shares.
 
In calls, the most active contracts were those of Tata Steel at strike prices of 300 and 310, TCS at a strike of 1,100, Satyam at a strike of 400 and RIL at a strike of 560.
 
In options, the most actively traded contracts were those of Tata Steel at strikes of 300 and 290, TCS at a strike of 1100, RIL at a strike of 540 and Satyam at 390.
 
Nifty October futures closed at 1,817.65 at a discount to the spot Nifty's closing of 1,820.20. The November futures closed at 1,815.25, while the December contracts ended at 1,814.
 
The bullishness in the market has manifested itself in the form of a decreasing put-call ratio which is now at 0.29. Puts are now at 5,148, while calls are at 17,752.
