Extending its gains for the third straight session, IT major TCS surged by over 2 per cent to touch a lifetime high of Rs 1,126.90 in early trade on the BSE today.
Having jumped by 2.45 per cent in the previous two sessions, TCS started the day on a strong note and rose by 2.32 per cent to an all-time peak of Rs 1,126.90 on the BSE.
Another IT bellwether, Infosys Technologies, also registered a smart gain of nearly 2 per cent in early trade on the BSE. Infosys, which carries the maximum weight in the Sensex pack after Reliance Industries, rose by 1.79 per cent to touch an early high of Rs 3,261 per piece.
Meanwhile, another software giant, Wipro, rose by 1.53 per cent at the start of trade today.
Experts said the strengthening US dollar boosted the attractiveness of IT stocks. TCS and Infosys were instrumental in driving the Sensex 75 points higher to 19,723.13 in the morning session, they added.
